CEL fix for test pipe...

If I install a test pipe will the UTEC be able to stop the CEL light do to the test pipe? I read the UTEC manual and it looked to have an option to turn off the CEL light, but that seemed to be permanent... meaning if there was an actual issue with the engine the CEL would not come on.. Is this correct?

If so, which would be better or easier to install. The Perrin electrical CEL fix or the spark plug defowler fix?

I should be getting my downpipe next week some time. I will be running Buschur 3" downpipe to test pipe to Buschur 3" cat back...

Thanks for you time.

I'd try the spark plug non foulers first. That way you won't have to hack into any wires if you don't need to. Only use the simulator if that doesn't work.

Yup, same thing i do and it works great. Just rmember to get the 18mm anti fouler and drill the center to 1/2 inch.

I'm guessing I should get one of these fixes before I install my test pipe?

Yes, if you expect to have a problem with a CEL due to the rear O2 sensor, the correct fix (besides running a "Correct" catalytic converter) is to use an electronic CEL fix, I do like buschur's mechanical CEL fix however if we know its there, I'm certain that the "Emissions inspectors" know what to look for too (assuming the lack of a catalytic converter wasn't obvious enough)

I don't have the UTEC but I have TB exhaust and I cannot find a way to get rid of the cel light. I tried the spark plug antifoulers as well as the O2 simulators from Buschur, sadly none of the options work. I'm still fighting the issue and waiting for more suggestions to follow to get rid of the light. Here are the threads that I started to eliminate the sucker, anyone knows the answer to my question let me know.

Or just get a Ultimate Racing test pipe and not worry about it. They have a built in fix and guarantee no CEL.

Thanks for you time.

I would do an electronic fix. I tried the anti-fouler fix, and initially it worked but after some tuning and playing around with the A/F's with the UTEC, they o2 sensor code came back on.

And if you turn off the cel with the UTEC, you are just telling UTEC to NOT show it on your cluster, but it will always be there until you clear it with a scanner.
