engine light/o2 sensor

Hello, I am just new to the forum and have a few questions. I just purchased an 03 Evo VIII with around 9k miles on the clock. The engine light is on. I noticed that the exhaust was changed from the turbo down. In fact at first I thought that it was only a cat-back system and it also has an HKS intake. Now my question is, how would I be able to get rid of that irritating light? I just picked my car up from the dealer and they told me that the reason the light is on is because of the aftermarket exhaust. Particularly because of the non-oem cat. I disconnected the battery and the light was off for about three days then is back on again. Somebody had suggested the Perrin Performance o2 simulator. Has anybody had any experience with this product? Worse case scenario is to probably to put back the OEM system which the previous owner no longer have. I need everyone's help on this so I can enjoy my new (used) Evo.

i suggest diagnosing and datalogging to see exactly what the problem is. maybe the computer is running it too rich from the intake. but i would have a professional with a datalogger see exactly whats going on. either that or, remove that HKS intake because its hurting you rather than helping you without a proper tune.

I'll try disconnecting the battery again but this time for about ten minutes. Anybody out there who wants to swap an aftermarket intake and exhaust for their stock units?

Get 16mm sparkplug anti foulers. and bore it using 1/2 drill. and put that between your rear o2 and exhusts.

Are these suggestions the only fix to turbo back exhausts? So there is no way that the OEM o2 sensor will work with an aftermarket cat.

My aftermarket 3" Ultimate Racing high flow cat works fine with my factory 02 sensor. I dont get a CEL from it. I think the cat just has to be effective enough.

So it is most likely that the culprit is the exhaust. Also from just reading the manual. I t calls for 98 octane fuel. Unfortunately, here on Guam the best fuel I can buy is 91 octane. Could this be part of the problem too?

I'll swap you my stock intake system for your hks intake and I bet your engine light will come right off. I have an safc to modify so I wont have a problem with it.
