Switch to MAP sensor?

Ok, I was wondering what would be the PROS and CONS on switching my evo to MAP (either a 3 bar or 3.5 bar...or whatever). What are some things I need to consider...

the piggyback I have is pre set-up for map...

my car is running strong now! But considering this to take care of my MAF, and the constant crap with idling with intake and all.... PROS AND CONS on MAP please

If you go to MAP you will fix your idle most likley. You could probably even go to the AEM standalone and fix your idle problem without converting to MAP right away so you can have time to learn the system. Bottom line is with MAP you will make more power, how much more it depends but it will increase as you go up in power but you driveability will be harder to tune at first. You give one for the other but a good tune can make the best of both worlds for getting better gas mileage and more power both.

Be aware you won't make a ton more but it will be somthing. Race gas will be a different story though if you don't have timing control now and you do after a MAP setup.

The only other Con of MAP would be if you use a standalone it can be difficult to tune all at once and if you have a issue that you don't have time to fix it can be a bit of a pain to rehook up the stock ECU and map sensor.

Cool, not pressing it just didn't know. I don't know anything about the piggyback it does look alot like the ECU+ but I have no idea if it will help you with your problem. Hopefully someone else who runs that can answer your questions.

Awesome, thanks GT Would you say MAP is the better choice, or is it more of preference? Is the safety margin different on each setup (map or maf) Is there any more of ease or difficulty in tuning? any more feedback would be great!

I would say with an upgraded turbo MAP and a AIT sensor near the throttle body is a better choice if you can ditch the MAF all together and if the unit you use handles it well. Map is a little harder to fine tune becuase it doesn't actually measure air it just calculates the amount so it can get fuzzy in the driveability areas until you get it just right.

If you can't ditch the MAF I would go to a blow through MAF unit. Not many people run them but if you are willing to take the time you could probably make it near perfect in every situation and have the best of both worlds.
