Choosing BOV - HKS SSQV or Greddy Type-S

I need some guide on chossing a BOV.

I'm considering either HKS SSQV (recirculate) or Greddy Type-S BOV. Whick one is better? What is the Cons or Pros between these 2 BOV? Finally, where I can order either BOV without breaking my bank account?

I'm still running stock BOV and I running at 1.3-1.4 bar of boost. I'm not looking for great sound as the feature. I'm looking for a good BOV that will not leak/hold boost.

I have a HKS intake kit and the stock BOV sound as great.

TIA.

Get the HKS. The GReddy doesn't run as well as the HKS in the evo. The idle drops even though it's recirculating. It sounds cooler than the HKS IMO, but the HKS is a nicer built and just works better. Plus, the GReddy cant really run anything past 23 - 25 psi according to an article I read.

I can get you either BOV at a good price. PM me when you're ready.

I thought VTA BOV's were a no go all together on the Evo? I thought you had to stay with the recirc. kind.

After a few consideration, I finally get HKS SSQV BOV.

Got it from a fellow member at the forum. The package arrived safely.

The HKS SSQV with recirculate is installed. I do have several comment about this BOV.

1. Stalling occurs? Yes, sometimes.
2. BOV sound? Not as good as the stock. I rather stay with Greddy.
3. Performance wise? Great. My car spool up quicker and I get better response from the car.

Anyone has SSQV with recir setup? What is your setting? Can you share your knowledge? My adjustment screw is all the way up. My car run better with this setting. Not sure if this setting is the best for my car.

Chinalfr......I have teh SSQV recirculating into the HKS RS. It is still very loud. The SSQV is pretty responsive on lower RPM. It releases air at any amount of boost. I have not experienced stalling with this BOV, even when its VTA.

The HKS is hands down a better BoV unit than the Greddy.

My car never stall at all after I put the greddy type s BOV. My brother got the BOV for his prelude about 2 yrs ago and he never put it on. Its a good thing he kept it and gave it to me. I just bought the BOV flange for $20. My Evo runs better than stock and the sound of BOV was just right for me.

I guess you have the HKS recirc kit with the stock air intake? I installed my HKS SSQ

I guess you have the HKS recirc kit with the stock air intake? I installed my HKS SSQV VTA and it does not have any bogging or idling problems.

I will attach sound clips but I do not know how, and I also do not know how to go about recording it from outside and inside the car. I like the HKS SSQV. Its loud and has the psshh-pssshh-pshh sound. Also, you probably already know that the stock BOV leaks, and this HKS units holds boost pretty well!

Also, the HKS SSQV is a dual valve BOV, meaning it lets air out when the you go 3000-3500 RPMs or less. The single element Greddy will have this air stuck inside the intercooler piping and disturb the natural rotation of the turbo impeller.

No flames please, just gathered facts from the forums and personal views!

Thanks for the info.

After last night, my car runs much more better now. Stalling problem minimized to none. Not sure what curing the problem. I have installed HKS downpipe and clutch line. During this process, I also got the ECU reset.

I think instead of recir, I will try VTA setup later. I need to find a good spot to mount the SSQV. I will try to customize a mounting bracket and mount it next to the battery.
