Evo9 Head on evo 8

this might be a dumb question. but here it goes any ways. i Just want to know if you could get the evo 9 head cause it has Mivec. and put it on the evo8. will it make a difference. or just a waste of money and time. or you cant do it at all.

thanks

I dont think it would be easy but could most likely be done.

As for is it worth it... we will not know until tuners here in the US get EVO9s and start modding them and see what type of improvements there are.

In addition to the head itself you will probably need the Mivec supported ECU and all sensors and wiring harnesses associated with Mivec. Its probably gonna end up costing you more money than it's worth.

The only way to fid out if it is worth it is to try it - I don't think anyone can answer that question until it's been tried (maybe more than once).

I'd think it might be able to be done. But not anytime soon, only because of expenses. Unlike Honda's (ls/vtec, h23vtec, b20vtec) evo's arent that cheap to mess around with yet.

Evo 9 mivec engine gives fantastic low end torque. when combined with the mag turbo, there is virtually no lag at all. Another difference is that the 9 does away with the airflow sensor and uses a MAP sensor thereby increasing intake flow.

Stock evo 9 with a semi restricted exhaust and open pod intake produces 301 whp ! damm i wish i could change to the 9.

Are you sure the Evo9 is using MAP instead of MAF?

haha this is funny... it's just like when we swap vtec heads onto a non vtec engine. with honda's it's really not all that hard to do an LS/VTEC swap if you know what u're doing. there are even kits for it now. im sure it wont be long before people are doing mivec head swaps

If it could be done I think it would be well worth the cost. People are swapping to 10.5 hotsides for a few horspower for a couple hundred bucks. I would think the power would be great mainly because the LS VTEC swap is such a huge gain, its pratically a different motor

only thing is, with LS/VTEC swaps power gains vary wildly because there's so many different block/head combonations.

does anybody know for sure if the IX will use a MAP sensor rather than the MAF sensor?
