ABC installation (Look ok?)

I'm having Jester Tuning warm up the car a bit with a tuning session tomorrow at Central Florida Tuning. I installed a downpipe (apexi GT-spec) and the ABC today. I've posted a few images of the stock boost solenoid and wastegate actuator line with it's vacuum tee. I want to make sure I've installed the ABC correctly! See pics.

The first image is of the stock boost solenoid. I pulled the line off of the LOWER port and installed the ABC there with the supplied Tee fitting. The ABC sits right next to the front of the airbox for easy access. The lower port's vacuum line runs directly into the WG actuator vacuum tee (second photo). Per TXS's instructions, that should be correct, no? Trying desperately to get the MAP sensor for closed loop boost control but not sure I'll be able to get it in time for the tune (it's in town at another Evo owner's house).

That line has a pill (restrictor) in it somewhere, you will have hard time adjusting your boost.
I suggest you replace the whole line. Yes, I did it because I had a problem and it's a ***** to replace it and not get cut on the stupid fan plastic.

Actually there are TWO restrictors....TXS advised me to leave them both in. Big problems tuning today..we'd get 21psi initially and it would drop to 17 or 18 every time. Looks like the UTEC is fighting the stock ECU. They weren't able to lean the engine out like they wanted to either.

Anyway...I'll have the MAP sensor soon and we'll see if closed-loop boost control is any better or fixes the falling boost. Might be the stock cat-converter.

On another note, I picked up a cat-back exhaust from Kami-Speed on the way home to replace the HKS. Yep, got the Fujitsubo. One word; AMAZING. Definitely worth the price of admission. It's ever so slightly louder than stock, no droning, amazing silent even at WOT. IMHO, the best exhaust out there and much more quiet than the HKS Hi-Power.

I'd pick up Fujitsubo myself but it was way out of my price range. I got Espelir JGT500 and it's pretty noisy.
I had big problems getting boost past 17psi with the stock vacuum line. I was opening up ABC plus adding values in the boost map with no luck. If I remember correctly values were from 100-500, I had it at 500 and turned up ABC all the way and nothing.
Once I changed the line from the turbo/wg to the solenoid, I was actually able to increase the boost with very little problem.

Ok, so remove the restrictors or replace the line and it'll be dandy? Is that the general consensus? I guess I'll have to hook up a boost gauge :-) yeah the values are correct. Same here, ABC almost all the way open and the duty cycle turned way up!

If you going to be using UTEC to control boost get rid of the stock solenoid. The Perrine EBCS is pretty good and its cheap. Also you don'y have to worry about the restrictor pills, since you remove them all.

Is there cutting and splicing involved with the Perrin EBCS? Or is there an evo-specific harness?

The Fujitsubo is so quiet I may be able to get away with a resonated test pipe or definitely a high flow cat-converter. What's the best cost-is-no-object high flow cat? Might as well make power and be environmentally friendly at the same time!

I was able to interface a GM BCS without cutting off the stock connector, you just need to make something that "Resembles" the pins and slide them in there and use sealer to keep the moisture out. at least you can swap the stock solenoid back on if you had to.

Everyone has some level of trouble with the Stock BCS system when you try to get boost over 21psi consistently. Its simply because the amount of air needed to vent at higher boost grows as pressure grows, so the flow eventually outflows the capacity of the bleed valve and ABC.. The best way around that is to use the Perrin or GM BCS as a restrictor solenoid since you then have 100% control over the signal.
