Replacing The EVO MAS

Is anyone here using the ECU Plus with a GM MAF? What is involved and how does it work?

Basically, you wire up your GM MAF in place of your Mitsubishi MAF, set a jumper on the ECU+ device, tell the software what you are doing...and then you're ready to roll. I've actually got TWO MAF's on my car at this very moment, a GM one and a Mitsubishi one, in series. We've switched between them with no noticable difference. It works!

Note, however, that you may have to re-tweak your fuel mapping, especially if you use the GM sensor in "blow through" configuration (that is, after the turbo). Our baseline measurements for the GM sensor were made with the GM MAF in the stock location. Your GM MAF may vary, so do plan to do fuel tuning accordingly.

Actually a new product is in for the Evo. Check out http://www.maftpro.com/ with this you are able to run speed density and get rid of a MAF all together.

Dan: Could you please post some pictures of your MAF setup?
Is it possible to set the 3" GM MAF just after the BOV/Recirc valve?
TIA

Uh, there's not much to see. I just have the GM MAF where my OEM MAF would be, and then there's a filter on top of it.

Yes, you could certainly put the MAF in the intercooler pipe after the BOV. Lots of DSM guys do it this way. Note that the MAF may respond differently in this mode (since you have much higher denstiy air under load), so you'll probably need to recalibrate your fuel settings.

Electrical wiring-wise, it's outlined in the manual. If you haven't bought a unit yet, download the software from the ECU+ web site and have a look at the PDF manual. It's all in there.
