why does my Timing always get pulled from 3k -4k is that normal, also Im getting same 2 of the same timing at some rpms any suggestions on how to make this better would be much appreciated
if your almost empty does it effect it?, it seemed to this time compared to before and after filling up

Where in those logs are you going WOT? Cause when you go WOT timing drops back down to base and advances from there. So if you're getting on it in between 3k and 4k, that explains your dip in timing. I'm assuming that is the case. Also, the logs are looking decent. Don't worry about the "same timing numbers at different rpm points". The important thing is that no timing is getting pulled (no substantial knock) and that you are getting great timing advance by redline, 22-23 degrees.

yea those logs are all at WOT, thanks for the response I feel better that its looking decent.
Im probably going to drive around for a day like this and see how it goes, hopefully my milage will be better, Do you guys think I should lean it out more up top? Its weird how after I got gas the o2 went up about .02 from 5600rpm -6800rpm, I didn't think it would effect it that much owellz.

Since you don't already know without asking, I don't think you should be messing around with an S-AFC. You don't have a wideband O2 in order to accurately read your AFRs. Narrowband O2s change with conditions and are not very accurate. You do need to lean out some from 4000-7500, but don't go so far that it causes your timing to be pulled.
As for the 3-4k range, the stock ECU naturally pulls timing at peak torque, which is where your boost spikes (3600-3800). That always happens, and since the stock tune makes us lean at peak torque, the S-AFC can't handle it well. In order to avoid knock at that point, you have to add fuel, but when you add fuel, you get less timing anyway, so it's a catch-22. This is where a flash is far superior, because it allows you to richen up the lean spot in that area while maintaining 7-8* of timing through the mid-range before climbing back up towards 20 by redline...

Warrtalon: Do Evos not drop to base timing when going WOT before advancing like DSMs do?? I figured it would be pretty close to the same but apparently these new ECU's are outsmarting me.....
I've tuned plenty of cars in my day, but these cars are just weird.

I just got the S-AFC b/c I was getting real crappy milage after my MBC, Also I want to keep my warranty and S-afc can be easily removed. I know I dont know much but I've read quite a bit about AFC on this forum. You got to start some where I guess. I know its not Safe to go too far without wideband, I just wanted to improve my gas milage and try to gain some power.
Im asking for comments so I can know if Im doing anything wrong, and I appreciate all the help I can get.
Right now my highest setting on afc is like -10 at 7200rpm I've read not to go over -13 without wideband , so I will probably stay on the safe side.

o since we lose torque in the lower RPM with AFC by adding fuel, is it safe/better to leave it alone??
what im really asking is , Is there a way NOT to hurt lower torque and just improve the top end?

these settings will not help your daily cruising gas mileage. ...just letting you know. Unless you drive around at WOT all the time.
I added a few % at peak torque...but I am still getting very good timing climb from 4500 and up. I would not worry about leaving it at 0 though...should be fine. Play around with adding some and see what happens to your timing curve.

thanks for the input, I dont do WOT all the time , but I think im on it at least 65% throttle alot of the times, especially at night =), either way I think it would improve it somewhat b/c before it was just horrible.
if you dont have a fuel pump and injectors your not going to get the full potential out of the afc. the way our stock ecu's judge timing alotment is by in coming air and knock. now with your afc you have the ability to trick the ecu into seeing less air than is realy coming in and that along with the absence of knock will give you more timing. the thing is the stock 550's are pretty much maxed out from the get go so unless you up the injector size you cant pull out a high enough % to make a differance with out going to lean and getting a knock situation. you have to remember the afc is as much a timing mod for our cars as it is a fuel mod. i would suggest getting some 660cc denso type injectors and a 255lph fuel pump. once you add those to the mix you should realy start seeing some good timing advance, not saying you curve is bad now but it will get better. i would just try and tune the afc above 5500rpm if i wher you for now, thats where the stock ecu realy likes to go pig rich. after you get that looking good i would call it a day untill you get a wideband and the supporting fuel mods i talked about.
