What the community really needs is a general purpose programmable, not just mappable, platform for engine control. EMS's, Motecs, and such are nice, but could you imagine the possilbities if you had a 500 mhz strongarm CPU, 60 channel dedicated DAC/ADC, and 512 mb of nonvolitile solid state storage?

This thread is old but MalibuJack, did you ever test this to see if it worked. I run an AEM EMS and I thought about using an extension harness to split the essential signals to the stock ecu, just enough to get a few of the self tests complete. I would then install a MAF and send the signal to the stock ECU. There are only a few hang ups: Some of my stock wiring has been re-used to run other things and as inputs for other sensors, but it may be worth looking into.

Earlier in the thread, M was talking about loops and contin. feedback issues- ive been experimenting with 555 ic's to feedback data to the factory ecu based on its outputs- the ecu will throw codes when it has no outputs also. (thats a ton of diodes) im still going to toy around, and think I can make it happen. Most of the factory manuals are secretive on the obd II specs- I was trying to figure the comm rate, bit transfer/duty rates to make something else just to communicate with the "man".

I was thinking along those same lines and ran into the same problem. Not enough info on the factory obd-II I/O. I wish something along these lines could be developed. I run the AEM EMS and will have to pass emissions at some point and with JUN cams....i'm not sure a simple reflash of the stock ECU would be the thing. Not to mention the rewiring of sensors...although as an avionics tech...its not that big of a deal. Just time consuming.

I just switched back to my stock ECU today, plugged in the stock MAF, stop map snesor and took out the AEM EMS for the purposes of passing emissions.

I havent driven the car yet but the car throws 5 codes:

P0113

P0102

P2229

P0243

P0106

Can anyone help???

It may be the old codes stored in ECU. You should try to clear the code and re-read again. Tried OBD Scan Tech?

I just wanted to bring this one back from the dead. Anyone do any testing yet on the stock ECU to see what data is being output, whether it stores the VIN# not just the immobilizer code.
