General UTEC questions

Hi guys,

I am looking at getting a UTEC. I have some questions though and forgive me if they are extremely newbish.

What the heck is a MAP and a MAF sensor...and why should I care? I have done some searches and most posts assume that you know what these items are. If anyone has a link for good info, I am ready willing and able to read up on it.

Also, in regards to the Tuner (or tuner pro) box that a lot of people seem to have. Why is this necessary? Does the UTEC have no logging? Logging only if connected to a computer? What gives.

Is anyone using an alternative to the 'Tuner' box? Frankly its kindy ugly and the AEM A/F ratio meter is much prettier.

map = boost pressure

maf = comes stock, right past your filter.

two different ways to meter air, and different ways to tune for airflow.

Tuner is useful for logging a wideband controller. There is a program here to use, that will let you use a different wideband (i use an innovate) https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=152099

Utec has logging, but a program like this, builds the map right before your eyes. Only time i do logging is when i'm tuning, when i'm connected.

Thanks for the link Pepsi. I had not heard of that company or that program.

However when it comes to the MAP/MAF sensor, you pretty much told me what I already know. I was looking for much more detail.

theres really not that much more detail to be had, unless you're asking the positives/negatives of using each one to determine load sites.

If you have a choppy maf signal, due to an intake or anything else, you have the option to go to map based tuning. I have a map sensor on my utec, but i still currently use maf based mapping.
