IX intake only
IX intake only
I've done a few searches on the forums and have concluded that running HKS RS intake as the only mod on my IX MR will make it run "9/10 lean".
This is something I did not realize until after I had installed the intake, or else I would have refrained for putthing this part in.
How serious of a problem is this? Enough to cripple my car for 3 days to send the ecu out for a flash to richen it up?
thanks for any insight, I really know nothing about tuning, or the results of a 9/10 lean A/F
thanks

That's not exactly what it does. It just throws off the tune by causing lean spots, sucking in hot engine air, and causing turbulent air flow across the MAF. You need a tune to make it useful, so either send in your ECU to get flashed now or re-install your stock airbox until you do more mods and then get flashed.

excellent, so I'm not harming anything by having that as the only mod?
I also made the 'air scoop' (sheet metal, curved) to gather air from the front of the car to the stock and air channel, which spits the fresh air right at the filter.
I'm just concerned about doing anything to damage the new motor by running lean?

Lean spots and screwing up your MAF readings are not good.

Lean spots and screwing up your MAF readings are not good.sorry, I absolutely misread.

edit: it's back to stock until I have the time and resources to do it right.
thank you for your help
