dsm link
I've been running it for quite some time. I knew if I ever went to an EVO I would want to run DSMlink so I kept it from my 2g. I've been running it so long now there is no going back
It is not made for EVOs, and it not offically supported when used in EVOs. So it's hard for me to recomend other poeple run it. It's not perfect byany means, but for those of use that run it and understand it's usefulness and appreciate the ridiculous support offered by tom and dave and the DSMlink forums, we're willing to deal with it. For 99.99% of EVO owners, I would suggest waiting for the "EVOlink."
I disagree with the comment about the cost of DSMlink. A chip, AFC, and pocket logger cost what than the DSMlink did. And when you compare the two setups.... I don't think I even have to make that comparison. For EVO owners there is the added cost of the rare EPROM 2g ECUs though...

I just put dsmlink v3 on my 05 evo 8 gsr and having a few bugs that i need help working out. the one bug is on start up the rpms rev to 3k and slowly work down but after that the revs are like normal. Next bug is the car at WOT breaks up real bad at 4500rpms and has been knocking 12degs. Next bug the maf goes crazy at WOT but if I roll into the pedal it takes every bit of it with mininmal knock. Next bug the Check engine light flickers real dim when driving and when slowly rolling into the pedal the check engine light comes on around 4500ish rpms and gets really bright and stays that way until i let off the pedal then its back to real dim. If anyone knows what this could be please let me know.

You should look into using the Stock ECU with ECUFlash/EVOscan. Its a much better choice.
The high reving is due to the fact that the EVO ISC moves more per step than the DSM ISC, or something like that, so it revs more than the ECU expects it to. Same thing with the power steering rpm increase, AC, etc. There is no easy way to put a DSM ISC on the EVO so you just have to live with it. I believe ECMlink V3 gives some control over this, so you might be able to fix it. My EVO was long gone by the time V3 came out or I would have tested it myself.
The knock may be due to the DSM timing map if you have timing set for zeros. The DSM timingmap puts a lot more timing in the midrange than an EVO generally wants. Adjust that to emulate the EVO map, or load the EVO8 timing table to the ECU with V3, and see what it does.
My car didn't break up too bad when I did this, but I did have issues at higher boost. It ran much better when I went to DSM coils, even with a much wider gap. Another advantage to swapping to DSM coils is that the coil dwell in the ECU will match the coils used. I ran the DSM ignition with AEM as well, it did much better than the EVO ignition.
For the CEL light thing, you got me there. I'd go over all of the wiring again.

Ecu flash is complete trash compared to DSMlink, or ECMlink as its called now.
It is basically AEM ems with out the $$$
It may not sample or be able to read as much info as aem but it's plenty for 90% of people here (under 700hp). Also the network with in ecmlink is crazy. About 85% of all users self tune. Which = savings.

I wouldn't even put a HP limit on ECMlink. I run it in my car down to 8.23 ET and it shows no signs of getting in my way yet, even on an old 1g ECU. It's idles and drives around great too, more like a street car than a race car. So many race cars run like complete **** around the pits, drives me nuts. The AEM gave me a couple extra inputs and better dry nitrous control, but there's nothing that I really miss. I had AEM running like stock in my EVO and the Talon, but it takes a lot of work just to get it to where you would be starting out with ECMlink.
