Big turbo + untuned engine, ok for track event?

Also, to the guy who said it should be ok becuase it is MAF based, I think you've got it backwards.

Sorry if this is all harsh, but its the truth.
I mean, when the turbo blew, part of it broken fins went into the intercooler and was damage. Considering that I’ve a ready plan for a major upgrade long before the turbo’s failure. I went a head to purchase the turbo kit, intercooler and fuel system and failing to oversee the shortage in funds
I don’t think taking out the kit would be a good idea even though the rationale of it, is for me to learn something.

To be honest you just planned it completely *** backward. Although the turbo blew, you should of been researching/finding what the turbo you were looking at buying needed to run well, and then put the parts on when and only when you had the money to get it tuned.

Run the car on the lowest boost possible. It will be fine, these guys don't even know what engine knock sounds like and they are trying to tell you what parts you need.
On the stock ecu with knock control you cannot tune knock by ear.

You can tune knock by ear, thats amazing....
At no point did any of us tell him what parts he needed, we all advised him to get some sort of tuning device and make sure his fuel system was up to task before getting on it, if that is not sound advice... I dunno what to say.

with your circumstances, it would prolly be ok to putt around... isn't there anyone in your area that can at least give you a decent flash for you mods?
DO NOT track, i assume it's a road track, your car in it's current state. for a track day you definately need a good safe tune... cause you WILL push it. you just can't help it with an evo

You can run the car on 1.25 bar no problem "If" you stay out of boost and drive it easy "NO BOOSTING". Keep in mind If you push the car to 18.38psi (1.25 bar) on that turbo you could push your stock fuel system too hard and lean out. I know on my 3065 @ 14.7 psi I flowed more than my 16g at 22psi. Even with the stock turbo @ 23-24 psi the injector duty cycle is already geting to 90% plus on the stock 560's with a safe AFR on pump gas.

go to openecu.org, download the ecuflash freeware or there is also a link on this website, paypal 94.00 dollars to mynesperforance@yahoo.com or go to tactrix.com and purchase an openport cable and you will then have the power to tune your car and drive as hard as you want kapeesh!!!
I can feel my IQ dropping just reading some of these posts... ouch!
StarofDeath - under no circumstances should you be boosting your car with its current setup. _Could_ you track your car? Sure, but it's no fun tracking an Evo below 3000 RPM.
Hopefully you've avoided doing any permanent damage to the engine. Once you've got your pennies saved up, have everything checked out and get a proper tune. Doesn't sound like you've got the dough to take any other route.

please get it tuned before you hit the track or go WOT, you're going to be moving way more air then you did before at the same boost level and are probably running too much timing for that... I have a link in my sig that explains the process, equipment needed etc...
