Problem with UTEC

I recently had a problem with my car when i put a UTEC in it that it wont rev past 4500. I thought it was a bad UTEC so i sent it out and received a new one. When i tried to put the new one in the car the same problem arose. The only mods on the car are TXS cat-back, UR upper IC pipe, HKS intake and a DTEC-BC.

Also the car runs fine on the stock ecu alone.

ANY IDEAS?

I have to think about this one Erik, but I just not sure what could be causing the car to go into a somewhat limp mode...

Do you have the launch control engaged? I did that. Apparently, the Evo's clutch switch is very sensitive.

I am thinking this has something to do with the boost controller, Erik, did you remove your stock solenoid completely? I can't remember if we did or not.

Check the programming switch... make sure its in run mode and not program mode..

Also, if you have the Map switch plugged in, verify that the switch on the UTEC is set to 0.. it could be stuck in valet mode...

If you have the same map switch... unplug it.. it could also be a bad switch..

Put the UTEC back in the car without the Map switch and it did it again. Wont rev past 4500. The car also threw a P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input code. The MAF on my car is brand new BTW. WHen the switch on the UTEC itself is set to 0 it does it. When i moved it over to 1 it goes away. Back to 0 it does it again.

Reflash the latest firmware on the UTEC.. Something doesnt sound right it might be corrupt.. Out of curiosity did you ever have any other Piggyback installed?

If your still running OLF, check the boost cut and MAF cut settings in the OLF screen... you may find something there too..

But getting a MAF Circuit voltage low in passthrough sounds like a corrupt or older beta rom image..

The car was reflashed but when i bought it I was told it was flashed back to stock. The UTEC is brand new so i doubt its the firmware from TXS.

I just picked up a openecu cable and flashed the car back to stock. Car was def never flashed back to stock but it is now.

Drove the car down the road and the CEL came on and have the same problem. This is real annoying!!!!!!!!!!!

Another thing i noticed is the problem only occurs in map 0 (passthrough). In full thottle in map 1 (stage 1) it is fine. If i do 1/4 throttle on map 1 it wont go past 4500 though.

Maybe the wiring to the MAF is screwed up? But if it is then why on the stock ecu alone it is fine?

We can try but i doubt that is the problem. Gone through 2 Utecs and same problem. The old UTEC worked fine on the white car so the firmware was fine.
