tommi makinen and 1.4 bar ?

hi;
i ve an evo 6 tommi makinen edition and have a question about high boost. my evo has magnex full exhaust system with downpipe,evc5 and walbro fuel pomp.. it is almost stock .My question is; my friends who has got same car they can see max 1.1 bar but my car is going 1.5peak and 1.4 continuous. Is it risky??? my service suggest use the safc for adjusting air fuel ratio. they can not explain how it goes healthy?

service

who is your 'service' and how do you measure your boost? 1.4-1.5 bar seems excessively high for stock ecu, are you sure that the car has never been mapped before?

evc

did you buy the car 2nd hand? if yes, the previous owner might have already mapped the car. if you are the one who cranced up the boost without a remap, you should get one asap. mike from extreme maps rally cars in turkey and there is another shop in istanbul that does this sort of stuff as well

Im sure the ECU is compansating for the extra boost by adding a little extra fuel, if anything you might be running a little more rich. I wouldn't say its too risky being that most of the modern day Evo's come out of the factory running that much boost. I thought the TME cars ran that much boost anyway!? oh well shows what i know. i wouldn't worry too much...

did you get the car second hand?

as far as i know, evc5 is used for boost control. I would say that if it was fitted when you have purchased the car, it was put in to up the boost. have the shop check evc settings and find out what is going on with your boost...

1.5 bar on std ecu is 'not recommended' but i've heard of lots of evos in thailand do this... no compliants so far.

std 6.5 ECU runs boost to around 1.2-1.25 and tapers to around 1 bar at high rpms.

whats the advance like at 1.5 on the std ecu? I suspect it is pig rich and very retarded. Also isn't there fuel cut at 1.35 bar? is it higher on the 6.5?

I wish I had a Evo VI TME. The only TME that I'll ever drive will be in Gran Turismo.

Standard boost on the VI TME is 0.9 bar hold. peaks 1.1 standard.I run 1.55 bar with Autronic ecu,walbro fuel pump on 4th and 5th gear. 1.3 bar at 1st-3rd gear.Max boost on standard internals is 1.6 bar.If you change the con rod bolts to ARP you can boost more but I'd change the pistons if you are..It also depends on what fuel you run your Evo on.I use 99 octane super unleaded from Shell.Never had a problem.
