im new to this, and i need some help to dyno my car
I have a 2003 Evo VIII with these upgrades;
- AMS EVO VIII 50R Full Turbo Kit
- 800cc Fuel injectors
- EVO CROWER semi race CAMS 272-272
- Crower Springs and Retainers for Evo Cams Titanium
- Walbro Fuel pump 255
- BOV
- Oil Catch Can
- TurboXS UTEC ECU
- UTEC Remote Map Selector Switch (UTEC-Switch)
- Cams gears
- Greddy Boost control
Currently the car is running like stock, because the computer hasnt been dynoed yet. I bought the car with all these upgrades and have taken in to 2 Dyno shops and they said that i should buy the AEM Computer, but i dont have the money to get it installed and dynoed. And i want to see if i can just dyno the car with just the UTEC ECU, and i noticed people just post up there Maps on the forums and would like to see if someone could help me out on this. If you or anyone you know that could help me out if you could give me a call (919) 610-1367 and my name is johans. If not if you could email me or message me back. My email is Gcloud28x@earthlink.net I would really appricate the help.
Thanks!

People recommend AEM because they know how to tune it and they do not want to learn how to tune a UTEC. Unless you really have a need for speed density, the Utec is the way to go.
I say sell the utec and use the money to get a custom ecuflash tune. Where are you located? There has got to be tunner within driving distance that can tune the utec for you, If not, find someone from the ecuflash forum here that can do a custom tune with ecuflash.
i live in north carolina, but i dont want to sell my utec, im very comfuse because i wanna know the truth... many people have told me that a flash doesnt work good, in the last messege somebody told me that utec work good and then in this messege you're telling me that sell my uteC???
the flash is a "simple file" and a turboxs utec is a ecu that cost $900 without the sensors and the map selector.

this address is only 5 hours from here. maybe these people are the best tuning my utec. what do u think about it?

The Utec is more than ample for a 50 trim. No need to go with AEM until you max out the stock MAF. With a 50 trim, even with alky, you won't get there. Stick with the Utec, just find someone who can help you tune it properly.
TurboXS would be a good choice to help tune, I'm sure there are others closer, but you'd have to do some searching to find a good shop.
A custom flash is an option, and it would be relatively cheap to go that route, but then you'd be stuck with one tune and only one map. If you wanted a tune for race gas, pump gas, or alky, a custom flash can't do all of that for you, but the Utec can.

at least good news dubbleugly01, thank you. here we go again listen. when i bought my evo i went at three differents places, these three places are authorized to sell both ecu, and i know that they know how to tune the utec, one of them told me that utec is a sh** and the others told me that AEM can give more HP than turboxs... is that truth?? why??
Everyone likes different flavors. Yes you can get more power from an AEM with speed density (no backpressure from maf) but, it will take a bunch of tuning to get into good running order because they have to set everything. Then, if you need to have OBDII compliance for smog tests, you're done.
It takes a little more knowledge about how it works to get a good tune on a UTEC and theare a few issues on the table right now that should be fixed in the next upgrade, but overall it is a great unit that can handle all you currently have.
