I am planning to get one of these for xmas, and I wanted to know if I can set it to run zero boost - and is that safe on the engine? or am i better off with just 3-5 lbs

I dont want the car to be boosting while I am cruising or driving around town.

 

this is not a boost controller. the SAFC I/II controls your feul, timing, etc. just drive under say 3k on partial throttle and you should be able to not boost high...

this is a stupid question. why buy an evo if your not gonna boost. boost doesn't make your car less efficient in mileage, i'm assuming your try'n to get at.

Yes you can set the AVCR to 0.00, why you would want to I have no idea and I might be wrong but I believe it would still run at wastegate pressure regardless so you would still be running boost, just a very miniscule amount. Lowering your boost will not save you gas milage you will just be running rich as hell

 

This is assuming of course that you are doing this for gas milage

 

but I could turn it down to something like 8PSI or lower if I let my g/f drive it right?
I guess you would have to tune the car to run at lower boost on a regular basis if you wanted better gas mileage

 

just tell her to not drive it too hard or push the pedal too much.
