Stock EVO 9 ecu $$$??
Stock EVO 9 ecu $$$??
How much does a stock EVO 9 ecu cost?
I want to keep my car 100% stock, but if I could get a 2nd ECU with a reflash it would be perfect. It takes 10 minutes to swap out the ECUs.
What's the problem?
1). I guess stock ECU costs $1,000+ from Mitsubishi parts
2). There is PATS system so you have to reprogram the keys, but a tuner can also disable PATS I hope.
It is sad how much money software costs for a stupid car! Stand alone units cost several grands, I think Motec sells for $4,000.
It would be perfect to buy a turbo back, 2nd stock ecu w/ reflash and have a rocket in under an hour. For some reason others choose a much more complex route, what is the problem with that route?

Hi
For about $100 you can use ECUflash to reflash the car yourself. If you want to go back to stock, just flash in your stock map. There are many tuners on here that will do a map for your mods, which can be emailed to you, for you to flash in yourself, if DIY tunning isn't what you want to do.

havent read much have we ? do some searching before you become a corrupt vendor's dream..... but yes, for about 80 bucks you can get a cable and flash back to stock, all day long.
Thanks for the answer guys!
I am coming from VW/Audi world and there is APR, Revo and GIAC mainly on a scene.
It's pretty common to drop $800 -$1000 for a flash.
I think $200 is a good deal to reflash EVO.
Does EcuFlash come with some baseline maps?
How is party throttle drivability? I have to say that 40,000 miles later with Revo re-flash on my VW 1.8t, I was very pleased with the software.
There were no issues, besides occasional knocking (califronia gas
), and drop in power due to heat soaking, VW 1.8T has small intercooler
.
I really hope EVO will respond to re-flash as well, or better than VW.
With 100 octane the car pulled harder in 5th gear than it did in 3rd gear stock.

Ecuflash doesn't come with base maps its just software that allows you to tune/change the parameters on your stock ecu. The software is free www.openecu.org you just need to purchase the tactrix cable. The evo responds very well to flash tuning and is reliable if its a good tune. However, the price for a flash is very inexpensive nowdays and you can make great power with simple bolts with the flash especially on a 9. The most I have seen on stock ecu was 585whp! I believe the member's name was Smogrunner.
once you get ecuflash up and running, save your stock map and make a back up copy. you can also find stock maps available here on evo-m or i'm sure there are many peeps that would gladly email you a stock map.
