Which is better turboback, cat-back?

I'm new to the forums and I live in IL. I don't know what type of exhaust to get. I don't know whether a turboback is better than a cat-back. Or if a cat-back is better if you get a High Flow Cat with a shield to keep it down a bit. Anyone from IL drop that knows the laws about emission.

Turbo back is better then Catback (since it eliminates the cat) Go with Buschur or AMS or whicever TURBOBACK you want for most power and a nice sound ... Remember to get get flashed after u put it on

TBE is better. pulling the cat is illegal, but will gain nice power. test pipe with bung for o2 pulled out of stream will keep the computer thinking all is well. cat out is much louder too.

watch what you buy some after market exhausts are restrictive

good luck

right, i figured that without the cat, cause it does bottleneck there a bit...I don't know if it's legal in Illinois. I know people have it in Illinois but are they concerned about it.

im in the military and doin law enforcement in college with vet plates i should be a bit safer. Suppose I do go with a name brand like AMS or Buschur...I can get something to debug the emissions place....the testpipe has an o2 sensor on it? does AMS and Buschur throw that with buying it or is it something seperate?

turbo cars that are tuned right can pass emissions without a cat.

my friends supra passed emisions with a 3" TBE on racegas(101unleaded) for emissions. ( car makes 500whp on stock twins, actually holds the record for highest stock turbo HP without nitrous )

depends i guess. im the type that takes the cat out asap. some people take apart the heat shelf on the cat, and install it on there test pipe so when you look you see what looks to be a cat, but really it isnt there

on stock turbo i think its about a 10 whp difference between HFC and no cat. the bigger turbo you go, or the more power you make, the more power you are going to lack.

but if you are just doing a couple mods, and dont plan on going to serious with the car a HFC would be an option.

You can buy the Ultimate Racing testpipe (cat-delete) which has a built in CEL (check engine Light) fix. Or you can use a non-fouler (do a search) so that your CEL does not go off.

Either way, a cat back is basically just a piece of the TBE. Def go with a TBE (catback, HFC or testpipe, and downpipe) if you want noticeable power.

I would recomend getting the testpipe because there are huge gains, as noted above.

Furthermore, for emissions you can just swap your stock cat onto the car- It takes no time at all just a couple screws.
