Is Engine management necessary?

As a first step I am looking at an intake and TBE. Will I experience any boost creep issues w/o engine management? On my STI I was told to port the wastegate or it would be a problem.

None of the later Evos ( Evo 4 up?) suffer from boost creep. If you change the intake you should reallt get a remap as the Evo is sensitive to changes in intake, better off sticking with the stock one and using a drop in and air box lid mod.

Far as i can tell Ecuflash will do pretty much everything you want in engine management. Its true failings if you will are the amount of scaliability you have on the ECU. There are parts you can buy to make up for certain components which hinder the setup like MAF to speed density with Maftpro or boost control with a MBC or EBC.

The load cells probably get too rough for extreme horsepower setups but if you plan on keeping the Evo only moderately modified then the stock Ecu should be enough. Engine manage is pretty expensive for a full setup and personally I can't justify it with the level of modification I plan on running.

The general rule of thumb is anything under 500whp and stock to stock like turbo and the stock ecu works fine. ECUs like the AEM EMS have better resolution but it's not to fork over $1000+ for unless you're going with an extreme set up.

Im too a beginner...

what do I have to do to get a non recirculate bov??

I do understand that because of the MAF, cause I dont have an ECU, i have to use a recyrculate BOV..

do i need an ECU?? wich one, i dont spec to increase more power... not in extreme ways
