How many times can you do it until the ecu runs out of maps and you are stuck with the last one. I heard you can only do it about 20 times, then you are stuck with what ever you flashed it with last...

 

Whoever told you that should immediately commit suicide.

You can flash the stock ECU as many times as you want. Do some research and you will see that there are Evo's out there with over a thousand flashes on the same stock ECU. It is just a computer, so it doesn't know how many times it's being manipulated.

 

Its more or less the same technology that is in the flash drives that everyone carries nowadays. I know I am not the only one here who is in the thousands, but I didnt get stuck at 20 thats for sure.

but anyways... yah .. what he said.. ^^ you can flash the ecu as many times as you want!

 

man i must have flashed my car like 50 times :P

 

there's an algorithm you should override:

10) flash count = X
20) flash count = X+1
30) If flash count > 20 Goto 50
...
50) Eject Driver
60) Explode!
70) Abort

seriously,,,, dont take this as flame but,, you need to use the internet to do research,, you know like ,,, google/ how a vehicle ecu works,,, you can find tons of info on google even in this forum

Ive never heard of maxing out the ECU on reflashes before.

 

well, thats what forums are for. for people like me that only know bolt on tuning and is trying to learn about ecu tuning ;-) DE DE DEEEE! thanks fellers ;-)

 

I have 106+ saved ROMs for my own car since february when I bought this one...countless other revisions that I never bothered saving I'm sure and others are in the thousands so basically it's a non issue.
