Ditch that crappy AFC - sell it for $125 and get the $100 tactrix cable and $25 evoscan.. and do what the AFC does and much more ... . Search the forums mang

What the AFC does is modify the signal from your mass airflow sensor to your ecu. If you want to run leaner it tricks the ecu into thinking theres less airflow than there actually is, and vice versa for richer. This makes the ecu think its in different load cell than it would be normally (think of your ecu map as spreadsheets, each cell in the sheet having values that it looks to to see what ignition timing it should run and how long of injector pulsewidths it needs for the load (airflow, rpm, and other variables depending on ecu) its at ). This makes the ecu change fueling, but it also changes timing to the corresponding load cell it now sees. This is not a good thing.
Hope that made sense .

He recommended going with the Tactrix cable and Evoscan because you can flash your stock ecu with them. You hook the tactrix cable to a laptop, and using software (like ECUFlash, which you can download for free) you can change the values in the ecu's tables and modify fuel/timing/other values. Evoscan is a program used to datalog with.

Compared to what? Its just one tool in the recipe for tuning, you could also use MalibuJack's MitsuLogger (www.aktivematrix.com)

Also is great, and free
