Nex is right. But there is a option to make the SSQV recirculate but im not sure on how it has been for people. Either get a Diverter valve or you'll have to spend some money to have a VTA bov.

Stick with the stock IX metal BOV and be done with it.

I have the HKS SSQV and I have the recirculation kit on it. The recirculating parts are cheap. I have the Injen air intake I had to do a little customising to make it work. The kit is around $12 and you need a 1" hose to cut to adapt the hose size. http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/pric...rculation_Kits

what is the problem with venting to the atmosphere, and why is it nessary to recirculate?

the air being released by your diverter valve has already been metered by the car's MAF, so when you vent to atmosphere you are releasing air out that the car still thinks is inside it's system. so in turn you ecu continues to add fuel even though there's less air to mix with. this causes very rich running conditions after the air has been released. stick with the stock or get the recirc kit if you really want the look, or the sound, or the boost holding capability or whatever it is you're looking for.

You need to recirc the HKS SSQV. HKS makes a recirc kit for the Evo. You need to recirc it because the MAF depends on and reads the air dumped in the intake pipe by the diverter valve/BOV. I have HKS evo specific recirculated and have had no issues with it. I've been running this BOV for 2 yrs now.

+1 to leaving it a recirc system. If you only wanted it to hear the sound, get an intake...you'll still hear it from that. I have an Injen intake/IC piping kit and just that alone makes my stock diverter valve sound like a greddy piece.

here is my post from another thread, describing DVs and BOV and why a VTA BOV makes an EVO run incorrectly.

"Yes you need both. The wastegate lets off excess pressure on the exhaust side of the turbo system. A DV or BOV lets off excess pressure on the intake side of the turbo system.

A DV recirculates the excess air back into the intake tract. A BOV blows off the excess air into the atmosphere, making the swish sound.

On the EVO a BOV is not a good idea. The MAF sensor measures the air coming into the engine at the beginning of the intake tract. A BOV releases some of this measured air out of the intake system, making some of the ECU calculations off."
