Logging and tuning in cold temps.
Logging and tuning in cold temps.
Should I really wait to tune for my new exhaust when its warmer out? Would it be a waist of time? I just need some opinions please.
lol...I called a friend and said "go ahead and tune in the cold, but you will have to tune again when the weather changes. It's good to have a cold weather map anyway". Good enough answer for me!

If you tune in one extreme temp it's always a good idea to check in on the tune when it swings to the other extreme.
some of my summer customers had me retune them for the cold weather and we saw significant gains.
I do leave a little wiggle room in the tunes by tapering the timing/fuel for different RPM/Loads among other things to help reduce the chance of having trouble in other weather.

Cold weather is probably the safer of the extremes to tune in. You generally can't get away with as much timing advance in the winter, so you are more likely to be safe in the summer. If you tune in the summer, it's more likely you'll see knock appear in the colder months.
As Chris said, you would ideally get a tune for summer and winter to get the most from the car. A winter tune will be somewhat weak in the summer since boost will likely drop and you could be running a couple more degrees of timing.
Or, you could just tune in the early spring/late fall and you're likely to be good across the board. =)
