what is wrong!!!!!!!!

ok. my car has a gt35r turbo kit installed, with 280 hks cams and camgears, it has 880cc injectors, downpipe, tbe, and it was tuned two weeks ago. she was running fine but after i installed the upper intercooler pipe yesterday, it started making some weird noises, like a somewhat high tickling sound coming from left side of the engine bay, as well as some air sound like one of those blown v8's. also when at idle, and cruising at around 60 or 70 mph, my air/fuel ratio gauge tops out at 18!!!!. but when i go wot, it goes down to 11-12.

any help. i just disconnected the battery and i will see what happens. also i will take her to my tuner until tuesday. but any help would be appreciated between now and then. thanks.

ok. i just started up again and the sound is actually coming from the front of the engine, maybe ex. manifold, or wastegate. this sound reminds me of the old *** bettles, with that iconic high pitched sound. oh, and no codes from the ecu.

You my friend, have a boost or exhaust leak. I would guess exhaust but could be boost or both? Anyway, I had a slight leak where my DP met my O2 housing, it went up into the manifold so I couldnt tell it was there. One day saw some soot on my hood out the vent. Checked it out sure enough leak. The whole while I was troubleshooting my wideband because it was like 20.9 at idle and went semi normal at WOT or a good portion of throttle. I would get a compressionchecker/boostleak checker and check your pipes, then check your exhaust with the same tool. I fixed my problem and managed a bleeddown of less than 1PSI per minute on my exhaust and it works great.

yeah, that is what i thought. where can i get that compressionchecker/boostleak checke of which you speak. at autozone? also is that how i would ask for it because every time i ask for something at one of those auto parts store they look at me with that i-don't-know-what-you're-talking-about face. would this hurt the engine? thank you

If it's an Intake/Suction Leak (before turbo/after MAF) it could cause your car to run lean which will hurt it, well could hurt it depending on tune. If it is a boost leak,(after turbo before Engine, you will just run rich, which could be bad, but isnt that big of a deal. If its an exhaust leak, its only causing excess soot-ey mess and a nasty smell, and messing up your AFR's. Could be bad or not, depending if it is before or after the O2 housing and depending on your tune.

You can get a compression checker at autozone yes. You could just make your own, its a good thing to have anyway. Its just an Air-pressure gauge (mechanical) and a coupler to attach to the intake piping/turbo inlet. Search the forums, you can make one for like 10 dollars. It will pay for itself trust me. They sell really professional ones on ebay for like 50, they are pretty nice, but costly.

You will find how to do it on these forums, to check the exhaust with it you need to just attach it to the tailpipe, and then add some air, pretty simple. Then get in tehre with soap/water if there is a leak. Easier way is to start the car, then plug the tailpipe for like 2 seconds (no more!) and listen for the hissing sound.
