Hks Eids
Like a lot of people with a high flow intake, I also have the almost-stalling problem.
So I did some research on the forum and found the HKS EIDS, which might help cure the problem.
Anyway, I couldn´t really find a satisfying answer if this thing really helps, and also it made me suspicious that there are quite a few of them for sale.
So I have 2 basic questions:
- does it help with the stalling problem
- does it bring up any other problems
In one thread , one of the gurus even stated that no one should install this thing in the first palce, but not explaining exactly for what reason.
Any experiences?
Thx
Peter

thx for your reply
however, i didnt reallly want to complain about the stalling problem, nor question the quality of my tune, i just wanted to know details about the EIDS.
when i remeber one thread i read about this (and im not able to find it again, dammit), the guru i mentioned did some research and found that under certain circumstances, getting off the throttle sometimes leads to an instant of reverse airflow through the MAF sensor which leads to the stall, so the problem comes from the hi flow intake and it is not correctable through the tune.
a similar problem seems to come up with aftermarket BOVs that vent to the outside.
in that thread, there were also members reporting that the EIDS
-worked fine or
-didnt work or
-brought other issues with the idle or
-helped the idle but compromised driveability
one thing i found out meanwhile is that the install threads in the forum describe the install on an Evo 8 and will not work for the Evo 9 since the ECU wiring changed.
