help something is wrong

i am unsure of what it might be and it just started last night so i have not had time to get it looked at. I hear a low knocking at idle, than when i speed
up and i hit higher rpms, the knocking gets louder.

The knocking sounds as if it is coming from the head, and leads me to believe because it changes at higher rpms maybe its the valves, or something to
do with them? The knocking almost sounds as if you had a bolt in a piece of pipe and you were bouncing it around.

I really don't want to drive my car like this and i am worried it could be something seriously wrong. If anyone could help me to figure out what it is so i
don't have to take it to a shop it would be greatly appreciated as i am only 18 and don't have the money for a shop expense currently. Thank you for all of your help.

So how did it happen? Cuz you didnt just turn your car on and automatically have that and didnt before. Did you turn the boost up and romp on it, ping it off rev limited for 10 minuets? Things like this dont just happen by starting up a car, so in order to get more help, you need to provide more information.

i drove it all the way down to Florida and than back to new jersey, averaged about 90 miles an hour both ways. by the time i got home it had been gradually getting a little worse but i didn't really think much about it, now four days after i got home it is now very very noticeable. I respect my car 100%. i really couldnt tell you why this happened, because i have no clue myself

Since the car is not tuned, does the boost walk up to 23-24 psi then walk down? And when you races those 2 cars, did you feel anything wierd?

The reason I ask, is cuz back in my young and inexcperienced ricer days, I turned my boost up and it walked to about 23.5-24psi then I blew a rod racing a TA. If you did indeed blow a rod then you would have felt something give. Almost like if you blew off an IC pipe.

Boost holds steady at 20psi through out the entire rpm range. No boost problems. When i was racing i didnt feel anything weird happen. Just recently i noticed it when i was driving home from my girl friends house. The car now still builds and holds boost but it feels as if the turbo is doing nothing. The car feels like it doesnt want to move out of its own way. It doesnt feel like an ic pipe blew off. That happened to me racing a TA and the car wouldnt go over 1,000 rpms it sucked. But seriously it maybe be the rod. I heard that from another person on the forum.

vacuum hoses come off? Check your boost controller if you have one? I know you said it shows boost, but double check.
