Purchased car with Vishnu Xflash Reprogrammed ECU

I bought the car with a Vishnu reflashed ECU, but I want to go ECUFlash. I heard that Vishnu locks their ECU after flashing so I am unable to reflash it back to stock or with ECUFlash. Is this true? Do I have to send it back them or can any tuner do this for me?

Thanks guys.

Anyone who considers, or calls themselves a "tuner" should be able to do it.
Or you can get the cable, download the unlocker tool, save your money, and do it yourself;

Tuning is no problem! Give me a call at 305-979-8863 to talk about your tuning options =-)

4WS Custom Tunes start at $150 and we offer cable rentals if youre not interested in purchasing.

Cheers!

Thanks for the response guys.

I emailed Vishnu the same time I posted this thread and just got a response from them.

if you know ecu has been flashed by us you will need to send us your ecu for us to flash it back to stock. you will need to provide me the original purchaser of the tune's information.

Hello,
When I purchased my Evolution IX, I was told it had the 380HP Vishnu
package, which as far as I know includes the Vishnu Xflash reprogrammed ECU.
I want to return the ECU back to stock, and I was wondering if a local
tuner can just reflash my ECU back to stock or do I need to send it back to
you guys? Please advice.

Anyways, did he say I need to send it back to them because I wanted to go to stock? And if I want to go ECUFlash then anyone can do it?

From what you posted it sounds like they will flash it back to stock if you send them the ecu.
But how long is that going to take?

Yes, anyone with a cable, a laptop, and common sense can flash you back to stock.

They flashed your ECU pre-ECUflash with ECUtech propriatary software. Unless you send it back to them or have another vendor that uses ECUtech it will always be scrambled.

Again, all you have to do is get a tactrix cable/ ECU flash and re-flash a stock ROM for your car or Tephra's V7 better yet (or use any ECUflash tuner). Then you can tune to your hearts content

Flashing the ROM is in no way locked. What is "locked" is if you tried to read the flash with ECUflash all of the definitions are scrambled so the data looks like garbage. Consider whatever tune is on there a loss and start over. More advancements have been made since then anyway.

Wow thanks,

I really don't care of the ''tune'' because from what i have red, Vishnu's tune are sh**.

I just want to run my car safely on 91 octane.

But hey guys, by the way, what do you think of the answer Vishnu's gave to the guy I bought the car on my problem (running 91 on a vishnu re-flash 93 tune) :

''I just spoke to Robert at Vishnu. He told me that you are fine and that you do not need to have the computer reflashed. He said that if you were going from 91 to 93, you would need to have it adjusted, but that in going from 93 to 91 the ECU will automatically correct itself and adjust timing and air/fuel. ''

That makes no sense at all to me !

Well it might knock a bit and the ECU will pull timing, so I guess in that sense it could be considered "automatic". On hot days if it feels like a pig, you know why. I don't think thier tunes were "bad" they just never really drag raced and where early victims of the great tooner warz of 2003-6. After ECUflash I think they moved on to BMWs, Porsches and folks with more $.

Blacktab420 and me solved this.
We can read the ecu with ecuflash but we have to run ecu unlocker from malibujack. Once done we can read the immobilizer key and init code, in fact the complete map.

So just copied the code to a stock map and reflashed back to stock. Problem solved. Everything runs fine.

You probably meant EcuTek and you can pull the rom no problem with EcuFlash and the unlocker tool, the rom will also not be scrambled.
