At what point does the stock intercooler need to be replaced?

For me it was fairly soon, but I'm limited to 91 oct. and socal weather. I have heat soaked the stocker in three pulls. In my opinion if you are anywhere warm, get one if you are setting the boost to 21 psi.

^it'll be more then 21 psi.. i have 93oct over here but it does get pretty damn hot in the summer.
