compressor surge?
compressor surge?
I have an 03 evo VIII. I put 1000cc injectors on it with a mechanical boost control. I have drop in cams from Works. I got the car tuned and I have what I think is compressor surge. Anything over 21lbs will chatter a bit until it hits about 4500 rpm. It's a shame because the point was to up the boost. Is there anything I can do to get more boost out the the stock turbo? The car is also hard to start, it takes 10 seconds to fire up. And finally driving normally when I let off the throttle, the car cuts out a little bit. Any help would be appreciated.
yes, I had it dynotuned, but I'm not a tuner so it's hard for me to say if it was tuned correctly. The tune was done with evoscan. The bov is from tomei and seams to work fine. If it's in the tune and not compressor surge, then why would it go away when I turn the boost down? And if it is the tune, does it sound like it's rich or lean? How much boost can you get out of the stock turbo, and what is the biggest limitation?
Thanks..
Thanks..
what boost pressure were you tuned for? if you were tuned for 20psi and you crank it up youll be hitting higher load cells that may not be tuned. as for the slow start sounds possibly like injector scaling or crank enrichment is off. with the car cutting out, are you running vta and a maf?
