Misfire When Tuning...

Hello all,

Bought 06 ix mr, nearly no mods back in September.
Since then i have added all bolt on mods and a few extras. When giving full throttle in any gear under 15psi had never had a problem.
I have been running on a very safe rich map, but a few nights ago me and my tuner went out to go for a more aggressive tune and to lean it out a bit. Well once upping the the boost to between 18-21, we started running into problems, first problem is on every other 3rd gear pull i would either get a little misfire, or multiple misfires to the point where had to let off.

From the information logged, there was no knocks, numbers were where they should be besides for ( throttle position was reading between 40-50%. For the misfire we were thinking it would either be spark plugs or coil packs? And not sure what would be making the throttle position read that low. All info and help would be great!

Spark plug gap is currently at...?

Set it to 0.020, make sure the plugs are heat range 7 iridiums....in this case an ILFR7H or equivalent. I'd presume the previous owner messed the plugs up one way or another.

i had the same problem, it drove me insane, i messed with plug gaps until i was blue in the face and even spent $600 on a sparktech sequential setup because i thought it was the ignition because we ruled everything else out. try replacing your cam position sensor, its like $70-100. it is magnetic based and the header is right next to it causing it to heat up and fail, i blew two head gaskets and did motor work because of it. i guess they are a common fail. also buschur makes a cover for it so that it prevents it from heating up and failing, here is the link......

hope that helps!

I have no idea what the gap is set at, I have never even looked at them. Going to go ahead and get some new ones anyway to start fresh, so 7 iridium's are the way to go? Also aren't some plugs pre spaced?

If this doesn't work i will definitely try the sensor

No plugs are not pre spaced, and don't get an autozone spacer that looks like a coin, get an actual plug gapper. gap them to between .020 to .025. I hardly drive my evo so I will replace them every time I tune, go road/drag racing, and every 500 miles. For $2 a piece you can't replace them enough
