Alternative replacement ECUs (evo 8)
I need to get an ECU flashed to remove the codes for the rear o2 sensor, and fuel temperature sensor on my Evolution 8.
I would like to pick up an ecu and do all the extra flashing on it rather than on my own. I know I can pick up factory evo flashes off of some web pages (I already have a USDM flash downloaded). This way I could keep my stock ECU intact in case I ever needed to put it back.
So my question is, are there other cars in the line that use the same ECU just with a different flash on them? I have heard the 2g turbo dsms have swapped over to our ecus but I believe that requires wiring. I want an ecu that I can flash with an Evo's program image and plug directly in.
Oh and the reason I ask instead just buying another evo 8 ecu is because my local salvage yard has quite a few mitsus with ecus for $10 and they are warrantied for 90 days.

quick answer is no... and I wouldn't even urge you to prove me wrong.
The '03 and '04 ECU's are different from the '05 which is different from the '06 and that covers all CT9A USDM evos...
good luck if you decide to try, your going to need it.

I am not trying to prove anything. If I have to I will just wait until I have the extra cash to buy another evo ecu. I was just hoping that say a 2005 base lancer would have the same ecu design just with a different flash. That sucks

Turns out the ecus are the same basic design with a couple pins being different. I found that info on a thread involving people flashing them for turbo base lancers. I have a patch harness for sale if you want to give it a shot.
