I got that impression when I talked to them explain where I wanna go with my tune. I got adjustable cam gears so maybe playing with timing will help. Anyway I made my mind I`m keeping S2 I just gonna spend couple hours on a dyno till they make it right. Thank you guys, you sure influenced my decision. I`ll call`em in the morning to schedule an appointment and post the outcome of this
Yea interested in the results!

That's sad AMS isn't getting it done right, they seem to have forgotten the car that put them on the map, around 2003 is when they really began gaining notoriety because of the Evolution.I remember the youtube videos that were awesome, the AMS drag car with the fighter jet decals and the black evo Chris had.

They definately need to treat you better then that and work on a solution for the idle/stall issues.

I just got back from RedlinePerformance and after 6 grueling hours. they narrowed down the problem. They checked everything, boost leak, exhaust leak, tune, SD you name it and there was 2 things. EGR valve was bad and MAS as well ( which I bought here on evoM cause suspected that could be a problem few weeks ago from a member here stated as perfect working condition but it was tested and MAS was faulty not cool man you could have saved me o lot of money). They suspected MAF but I told`em I just got one in a perfect working condition so you can feel my frustration. They are rally great guys, just to make sure this is the core of the problem they called one of of their friends who rides 04 EVO 8 we took EGR Valve and MAS OFF his personal car and did 1 pull on a dyno with down graded 800cc injectors and car was perfect, Idle was super stable so GSC CAMS were not a problem like I was mislead on the beginning. I also made more whp on that one pull with REDLINE. Well car still needs a work, I ordered EGR, MAS and going back on a dyno in about 2 weeks. Thank you everybody for helpful info which I pointed out to my tuner and I think this thread is very helpful also for EVO owners who run a lot of boost cause I stumble on a lot people having a similar issue. I keep you posted

I wouldn't blame AMS. Clearly you never stated the car idling poorly when you dropped it off. Installing cams has nothing to do with the EGR valve and MAF. Those kind of problems arent always pronounced right away and may have no affect during a pull. After installing good working parts it would probably give the car more horsepower. Plus you didnt say you payed AMS to diagnose the stalling issue. You asked for advice so they did their best. I would have to believe they test drove the car after the tune was done. They're more professional than that.

So could it be the Injectors too? I saw you said you ran it with 800cc instead of your PTE 1000s. I'm also having issues with my idle and wondering if it is the injectors. OR what you have stated, EGR valve and MAS. Also did you throw a CEL with the bad EGR valve?

You are not alone with this problem, I got lots of pm`s from people having similar issue but people got different ideas what it is. Actually work on my car was done 2 days ago it works almost perfect but I also didn`t spare any expense. I either fix this or dump the car .......ya really. So they tested simply everything. My car was perfect before I put turbo, cams ,inj AMS tune so I blamed cams and tuning. Coincidence well a little bit of both. So I started replacing parts NEW MAF, NEW IAC, I dumped EGR Valve downgraded inj 1000cc to 800cc and finally idle response was stable so next TUNING. After 4 hours on a rollers we found good set up but wasn`t easy. Even with new MAF & IAC seems like under engine load idle needle was still acting funny, so we play with lobe separation on a dyno and finally found good set-up. 95% out of a 100% Even my tuner was surprised that wasn`t 100% He thinks maybe overlap on the cams will offset the idle and that`s why its not as crisp as before. That`s just me and my tuner opinion. If you think about it it must be some trade-offs by putting 274 cams on stock head Well it works for me, I can live with that cause I like power and sound of a big cam. My car doesn`t stall like before and just sometimes needle is a little jumpy and cold starts are erratic but other than that my idle is near perfect and that is CASE CLOSED for me and to answer your question 1000cc inj. well I don`t know your set-up but PTE 1000cc are know from not great idle quality (according to people I talked to) I know lots of people here runs them and they`ll tell you I`m full of it. Well all I can say its hard to single out just one thing to fix idle/stalling issue. I guess you have to do one thing at the time. Welcome to TUNING WORLD

I didnt read the whole thread, but I had some stalling issues too, it turned out to be my IAC valve.

So, again, I didnt read it all, but check that too if you havent gotten it figured out.

I'm running gsc s2 and fic 800 fuel injectors with a few bolt ons. Had it tuned at Fftec and runs good. Had to take it back once to get it retuned a little cause I would get a stall every so often but ow perfect. They are an aggressive cam and love the rough idle it gives. Have been told to get some adjustable cam gears to smooth it out a bit but I might keep it running a little rough. So i would take it back to them and have them retune it.

This happened to me as well when I was running crosstie m3 on a stock turbo. My head is posted and polished however and I still got stalls at stops and when making u turns. Nothing really solved it I just ended up getting s2. Don't have the issue anymore on my 9.

I am running GSC S2's and I have my idle set at 950rpm. RPM is very stable, unless AC kicks on or fans, then the idle will dip a little. Every once and a while, I will have my car stall if I make a turn and push the clutch in while pulling into a parking spot. I think that if I set my idle at 1000 most of my random stalling issues would go away.

I had this same issue today with a car and it has taken forever to figure it out, but we have

We found the HKS 7460 was spooling enough on idle to draw in air, and it was raising the idle maf reading to 50-60Hz if we opened the wastegate manually to prevent this the idle was perfect and dropped to 37.5Hz.

May not be everyones issue but worth a look
