Warm start up issues on E85 + mini battery kit

Took me a few weeks to find a solution. I'd figure I would make a thread about this for people looking for a possible solution as it was not fun. This might be a fix for you... or might not. Just telling you how I fixed mine.

Car is tuned on E85 with a ETS mini battery kit. Previous owner had this issue. He changed spark plugs, coils and ignition switch. I am sure he got sick of it and sold it. Which then I bought haha.

Problem:

-Starting the car when it was warm (Been sitting for 15+ minutes). It would crank, crank and crank all day without turning on. Some times it would sound like it would turn over but instantly die. Only way for me to start it was to use a jumper pack and wait 10-15 secs before cranking. (Which then would fire right away)

- P0401 CEL (I checked the hoses + zip tied them and made sure they were connected properly, cleaned EGR valve)

- Cold start up issues were okay. It would crank 2-3 times then fire up. Idle would be slightly erratic. Upon fire up it would idle @ 2000-2200 RPM and drop to 1400-1500 RPMs then back to 2000 for a normal cold start up. Once it warmed up it would go down to 800-900 stock idle. Also in the cold it would fire up, then just die randomly. I would have to crank it back.... it would fire right away.

- Lean AFR's upon a cold start - It would go back to normal when I tapped the gas.

- Idle Vacuum would be 14-16 in/HG.

Solution: *These are the things I did*

- Deleted the EGR, FPR Solenoid and charcoal canister. Upon firing it up I noticed I got 18-20 in/HG vacuum at idle

- Cleaned IACV with throttle body cleaner (I just did this for the hell of it... my warm start issue was fixed after I deleted my EGR/EVAP/Charcoal canister)

Summary:

The car now turns over in 1-2 cranks without any issues. Cold starts and warm cold starts.

I don't know how or why deleting the EGR/EVAP/Charcoal canister fixed it. I would assume a vacuum leak some where in the tubing, faulty solenoid, or bad EGR valve. If it was a vacuum leak within the EGR/ EVAP system, I didn't expect a leak to cause ****ty start up.

Funny thing is I didn't even know I fixed the start up issues. I was just trying to get the EGR and Evap stuff removed before my tune that next day. I was 2-3 hours in when I noticed the warm start up issue was gone. I thought the start up issue was a tune related problem which was why I had a re-tune the day after I did the EGR delete.

Like I said, this may or may not help you. I just wanted to make a thread for members having similar start up issues as me. I am so happy I fixed this! No more carrying a jumper pack and looking like my car is a POS when it would start in a public place! Only issue is the CEL, I forgot to ask the tuner to delete them from the ECU.
