Noob Tuning Questions

I have been riding around for a while now with bunch of bolt on's and no tune. I finally got to point where i can start logging (evoscan) and start attempting to understand whats my car is doing. Since I obviously have a lack of experience in this area and my car will be getting professionally tuned very soon, I wanted to start logging now to shorten learning curve later. BTW logs dont have AFR, i have AEM UEGO sitting on floor and test pipe is getting welded with O2 bung tomorrow.

So enough of background. Here is what I am seeing and was hoping someone could simply explain it. I assumed for a while now with all the bolt on's my car was just hitting higher load and boost cut was kicking in. So i have boost set to 16 PSI so I didnt hit boost cut load and thats been fine for a DD. After logging though it seems I may not have been hitting the defined loads in boost cut table, which stock are 245 @ 3000-5500 RPM. The first log shows first run at peak boost of 16.1 (35 on AEM Truboost) and second i increased to 45 on truboost and it seems i am hitting fuel cut. Logs only show slightly above a load of 207. Am i calculating 2 byte load wrong? What else could be causing this behavior?

BTW Thanks for ANY input!!

Anybody? Somebody?

I think i may have figured out what the issue is, jut looking for some validation, I started looking at logs a bit more and noticed WGDC is at 100% during runs. Makes sense why I never see past 16PSI. What are options in replacement? Or maybe even boost leak? I guess i better run leak test to check that off list.

looks like less than stock performance based off of the load seen

Yes still on stocker. really was ok at 19.4 PSI before adding FMIC and Cat deltete. Something is causing boost to cut. I have moved Fuel cut loads up, but as you can see i am not seeing anything over 220. Only other thinlg I could think was boost leak or restrictor pill.

hmm seems to me like a boost leak. Have you boost leak tested it recently?

Boost leak check.

What rom Are you on?

*edit * saw that you were using 2byte

Send me your rom.

Lastly your wgdc will be at 100% because that's is how the OEM boost settings were set up to prevent overboosting. Unless you have vacuum line pills or a 3 port you will always be at 100 .

Yeah got it setup to run boost test in the am( have to wait for glue to dry on homemade boost leak tester)

I am on ROM 96940011 I edited MUT Table to
MUT 00 = 899A
MUT 01 = 899B
and was able to log values after that so I assume Its right, they are very close to calculated loads

Thanks for the assist!

Ok did boost leak test today, found a few minor leaks, nothing major. Question on that subject though. Once I pressurize how long can I expect it to hold pressure? It would hold 25 PSI for a few minutes as pressure slowly dropped.

Afterwards I did a couple runs and it seems issue is still there. I still cant get above 16 PSI while boosting. I did on one run and heard a pop, that almost sounded like a hose popping off, but after inspecting i found nothing, and besides that i successfully boost leaked at 25PSI. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Hey man , sorry I haven't checked that rom yet (im sure its ok, im just too lazy to get the rom definitions lol) but in evoscan move the knock sums, map timing, etc all close to each other , it is difficult to see knock when its 14 cells to the right lol.

Go into evo scan click/highlight what you want to log, hold ctrl and with an arrow key move the log bit closer to the top. I can make a mini video to help you out.

You do not need to log air flow, accel enrichment, afr map, load calc, load 1b (unless you switch to tephra).... Only log what is necessary , AFR ( from your wideband) , timing , load, knock, injector duty/pulse,wgdc....

Oh yeah , I don't see a wideband logging yet? Please don't try and eyeball the wideband lol

No problem I just appreciate any help. I adjusted evoscan to read a bit easier. I will run a few more runs and post logs.

WB is a slight problem, as it was a gift and they bought the AEM UEGO analog version, which is a super nice gauge, but I didnt realize until it was installed that it doesnt support serial logging only lambda. I am hoping next version of evoscan will support this. Otherwise I may have to sell to get digital with serial logging.

I think i identified part of the issue. NGK BPR7ES in pretty rough shape. I pulled spark plugs as it was around 60K and have read this is when stockers are good till only to find out it had BPR7ES plugs in it and they were in pretty bad shape. I also checked gap and they were around .44, I bought car used so had no clue, i guess I should have checked before now, but I replaced with another set of of BPR7ES and gapped at .23, I have read alot of forums and this seems to be ideal number to gap for under 400HP, any thoughts?

also bought some Lucas fuel injector cleaner, will run some tomorrow and see if that solves my issue.

hhh yeah pics too!!

Update:
Was spark plugs and or gapping. Running great now, just did a test run without logging and boosted to 19.8 PSI.

Thanks all for input and that for others posting detailed posts about misfires.
