Stock Evo VIII, Missing/Hesitate ?
check the plugs and make sure they are gapped to 0.21-0.24. They are supposed to be pre-gapped for ya, but they are rarely set correctly.
Also check for boost leaks. Check for leaks around the throttle body shaft seals, injectors, and obviously, any/all of the IC piping and hoses.
If you get a flashing CEL when it's bucking, then you have some version of the tephra modd'ed ECU. If that is the case, get your car tuned ASAP, and buy a version of evoscan so you can data log.

according to mitsubishi there are two checks you can do to test the coils, measure the resistance between the the spark outputs(between where the spark plug and the spark plug wire goes) on the coil when they are completely disconnected. you should see between 8.5k and 11.5k ohms
the second way is to make a jumper with a 1.5v battery (any standard aa batt works) and connect the positive side to the middle pin on the coil connector and the negative side to the pin on the right then check for continuity between the middle pin and the pin to the left. you have to do this all in under 10 seconds otherwise you could burn out the coil i did both theae test and my coils had high resistance but were still within spec but i replaced them to be cautious anyway and it went away. i highly recommend looking at your coils while you read this because it confused the crap outta me the first time i read the service procedures, any questions just pm me
