Leaking DV during tune
Leaking DV during tune
Hi guys im kinda new here and on Evos.
Ok, so after I got my evo 7 back from the tuner, I noticed that at full load, boost hits 26-27(sometimes 28?) but tapers down to 24 at 7000 rpm. I was thinking that It my DV must be leaking so I plugged in a SSQV just to test and on load it holds 25-26. I've search about stock DVs and know that they are prone to leak at 1.5 bar. so my question now is, Will changing my DV to a metallic DV/BoV affect the tuning? If so, in what way?
Yes, I know that using the SSQV isn't that great of an Idea but that's all I have and its a donation.
I have a Grimmspeed 3-port solenoid if that makes any difference.

evo 7 and 8 use the weak plastic DV that slightly leaks above 17psi when i swapped my one over to a evo 9 MR one i noticed it felt fast and the boost stayed more steady throughout the rev range so i would highly recommend that.
Also all turbo cars with a factory fitted turbo will tend to taper down boost levels at higher rpm as the turbo cant flow enough for that specific rpm.
