Evolution 6 Gates Blue Timing Belt
Evolution 6 Gates Blue Timing Belt
I have just installed a blue Gates timing belt onto my stock evo 6. It has done 55km on the new belt and it feels like i have a sluggish car/loss of power. Could this be to do with the fact the belt is still wearing in since it's a new tight belt?
Yes, the timing was set correctly but the issue is more so at idle. The car idles and sounds like it has a misfire like a cough every couple of seconds. Im planning to check the plugs, lines and timing belt tension.
Problem Solved
The auto-tensioner needs to be put on after the manual tensioner has been tightened. This caused the belt to jump a tooth on the exhaust pulley since as the timing belt wore in, the auto-tensioner couldn't re-tension since the arm was fully extended.
No problems since I re-did the manual tensioner first.
