my UTEC is in the mail
Well ordered the UTEC today. I did alot of research on all the computers out there and decided this was the one that best fit what ime after. I also ordered the Tuner. As soon as i get it all installed, i will post a review. I hope this forum gets rolling so that we can swap tunes....RRR
I know a programmer who has the skills to program a gui, but getting him to do anything is a different story. People with tallant who squander it really annoy me. But ill check anyway with him. Now i have to go get a laptop. HHMMMMM....RRR
My UTEC should show up tomorrow.. Pretty exciting.. Once I get it hooked up, I'll talk to the guys at TXS about the development kit and write a quick dashboard app / Data Logger / Playback Heck, with a webcam I can synchronise it with video..

Keep an eye on this forum, I'll probably have a rough dashboard app running in a few weeks, once I have the data I/O and munging routines complete, I'll add features to it as I have time.
At the moment I'm still trying to decide what language to develop it under, since the big selling point of the UTEC is its platform independence, I'd like to use JAVA so it will likely run on anything that supports a full java implementation. If not, I may have to (GASP) Develop it in Visual Basic 6 (Not .NET since I want it to work on as many computers as possible) and its easier to port to Windows CE (PocketPC 2003) if its VB6
Ok.. Since I've committed myself to this project, I'll start a new thread when I have some ideas and to build a feature list.
Again, I still have to talk with the guys at TXS because obviously their opinions and input are critical.
In theory, the UTEC's UI is similar if not the same for Both the WRX and EVO Product, so I can forsee it working for any UTEC
I'll probably also attempt to integrate the TurboXS wideband tuner, however someone (TSX?) would have to help me out there since I just cannot afford that bad boy at this point.
I'm very serious about doing this, but it will take a little time since I'd need to see how alot of the features work, and what parameters are exportable, etc..
(if a mod reads this, it might be a good idea to split this message off as a new topic.. I didn't expect it to get this long)

i have the tuner comming. I asked TXS if the tuner would AUTO adjust the A/F ratio and they said not at this time, but maybe in the future. In other words, you use the tuner to adjust the ratio manually and the tuner will add its readout to the logger but it wont allow the ecu to make live A/F corrections. Another thing ime fuzzy on is the use of a MAP sensor. In the instructions it looks like you can add one, but ime not sure if it just reads pressure for data logging or if you can install a MAP and get rid of your MAF. My intake is playing hell with my MAF!!! Maybe a routine which will allow a conversion would work. I hear the AEM will allow you to dump the MAF in favor of the MAP. RRR
I think in another post the MAP sensor was for closed loop boost control... However their future plans was to allow it (and an Intake air temp sensor) act as a speed density setup.. But check the other threads.. their more accurate..
I GOT IT!!!! Heck, i just decided to take a vacation day and install it tomarrow. But i hooked up the 9v battery and hooked it up tonight. Seems really straight forward. I think this will catch on pretty well. Anyways i went through the menus on the PC in the house. Easy to navigate. Ill try to get an early start tomarrow. Wish me well!!! RRR
