93 Tune on 91

So I will be having my car tuned by Devin at Boostin performance once the build is complete and have a quick question.

I live in Denver which is averaging around 5600' above sea level and where its being built and tuned is in Chicago which is not at that altitude. The car will have SD, Omni 4 bar, and a grim speed boost controller.

The car will be tuned on 93 in Chicago because that is what is in the pumps there but, in Denver the only pumps we have is 91. What,if any, problems will I run into?

I know 93 to 91 is never a good thing because of timing advance creating knock but, with the altitude difference and the 91 should I be concerned with running the 93 tune?

Thanks!
Chad

It would be better to ask Devin. And definitely needs to know that the car will normally run 91. To be safe, I would bring 91 in some gas cans with you to get the car tuned..

I have talked with cisco several times about it so he definately knows. I'll make sure it gets relayed to devin. It should but once it's all together I'll message them to remind them. I wish in would have thought about bringing the 91 with me when I drove up. It would be frowned upon if I try and bring a bunch of fuel onto an airplane when I go get it lol!

you'll need to lower the boost for 91 vs 93, you can keep the same timing as long as the boost is lowered enough to keep the car happy.

So they do not have 91 at all? Why not just have him do a basic tune to get the car back, then do email tunes to dial it in when you bring the car back?

I actually don't know if they would have 91. I could ask and see if they could find some. I would need to find someone here local that has the cable and laptop to do that but I guess email tunes an option.

Man that's a ton! I would have never thought it would be that dramatic.

Now could you run an fp black type turbo on e85 with only a single walboro 450 and id1300s? I know you won't max out the turbo but will it see gains over 91 and be safer?

When setup properly, the walbro 450lph will outflow the 1300cc injectors. It will run out of injector before pump on E85.

E85 is equiv to a high octane race fuel due to its cooling properties. 1300cc wont get you much past 600whp dynojet on e85 with a 2.3 or equiv.

Chad - I made sure Devin knows to tune your car for 91 octane. He'll take care of the rest!

i'm tuned on 91. i'd NEVER run my car on 89. 89 > 91 > 93 are all 2 points apart, but i couldn't say if it's a linear relationship.
personally, i'd rather not take the chance.

but i agree that asking the tuner is best.
