base timing on evo 8?
Hey guys, looked for this answer everywhere, I have seen people set base timing with the AEM standalone to 10*+, if one is taking the engine apart and re timing everything, do I need to do this with a timing gun and readjust the cam position sensor? I have not seen evo people do this, so i guess my question would be, when do you mess with base timing if you are on the stock ecu?
Thanks all.
Thanks all.

No base timing adjustment on stock ECU.
Even with an AEM or similar stand alone, its the other way around. Your actually adjusting the ECU, not anything on the engine. Example, you command the ECU to hold 0* advance, then use a timing light to make sure its at zero, if not, there is a setting in the ECU to adjust the base timing of the ECU. You're not changing anything on the engine.
