Tuning is Legal Again (in the U.S.)
The exemption to the Digital Millennium copyright act allowing owners to diagnose and modify their cars has kicked in. Its now legal again to tune and modify your car ecu and digital systems. John Deere and GM where fighting this pretty hard, claiming owners didn't own the software running on the car/tractor and shouldn't be allowed to modify it. GM sighted safety reasons, and John Deere actually claimed they worried people would modify their tractors to pirate music. You read that right, they are claiming farmers shouldn't be able to work on their own tractors because they might modify their million dollar machines to illegally download torrents. You can't make this stuff up.
