its just a conditional rev limiter.. not really like an antilag system since it doesn't adjust the timing to cause burning combustion gasses into the exhaust (Fuel continuing to burn and expanding in the exhaust manifold to keep the turbo spooled)

Did it bog? Mine bogged at 5500, but 6000 was a nice small amount of wheel spin.

Eek.. If I launch at anything over 4500rpm I get gobs of wheelspin.. I actually am not going to use the launch control as a launch control (maybe as a flatshift)

I have to do the old rev the engine, once or twice then bring it up to 3500 or so, then floor it just before fully disengaging the clutch (goes up to around 4500-5000 rpm)

The wheelspin is impressive to look at, but SUCKS for a 60' time.

I very light amount of wheelspin s a necessity for a good launch in a small displacement AWD car IMO. Not much, but if there is no wheel spin at all you are generally going to bog. I think 5000-5500 should be good, but for some reason the car was bogging on the airstrip I was on yesterday.

It's especially tough when you have a clutch that won't slip much like mine. I need to switch to a twin disc set up that can handle being slipped more and I am sure I can make 5000 or so work better.

yup. w/ the control set to 6K it bogged every time. i was running 1.76 60ft times and 12.76 1/4 times consitantly before I set the launch control, and afterwards my 60ft time was 1.82 and 1/8 was 8.2. I still have to run the 1/4 again, but I'll either disable the launch control, or kick it upwards of 7K. I realized that I like to be able to change my shift points to compensate for the conditions. Being that I don't carry a laptop in my car, that's hard to do. I guess it's time to buy one finally. anyway, it did exactly what it's supposed to do, but I felt like I was cutting the powerband way too short. however, the flat foot shifting just plain rocks.

I also recommend that you don't just "drop the clutch" when using launch control. Release it fast, but smooth till you actually get moving and THEN dump it.

Usually a flat **** limit of between 5500 and 6000 works best as this allows you to rev almost to the fuel cut but still have the secondary rev-limit to fall back on when the clutch is pushed in. I usually set it up this way so that it sort of “rev-matches” the next gear for me when I push in the clutch.

Hey guys I don't own a UTEC but I am installing a form of launch control/flatshift soon and would appreciate some advise for best rpm settins, I'll probably be shifting at around 7200rpm and have heard that setting the launch control for around 3000 to 3500 will build about 10psi at launch with just a little compressor surge. Maybe setting the launch control to engage at 6 and 7k is just making the turbo run out of breath for you jerastan?

6k, 5.8k.. Best bet.. 7k+ is about where the power begins to fall off and the turbo really is running out of breath (stock turbo) plus your not giving yourself enough window just in case you miss a shift..

How much boost can be built while on the two step? If you are launching on boost I don' t understand how it can bog launching on 8-10lbs. The reason I ask is because I had a 1g with the tmo chip and anything over 5000rpm would built 12-15lbs and it would just fry the tires.

Thats kind of low. I wonder if you could built more not cutting fuel, and cutting spark instead?

The boost built using launch control is a direct result of the size of the turbo, your intercooler pipes, and intercooler, and your exhaust.. so its going to vary a bit..

I thought you could build more with a smaller turbo no? I was running a fp green, wich is a fairly large turbo and i could still build a good amount of boost.
