Hit boost without tune.

Howdy folks. So I replaced the Stock air box in my Evo 9 with a ETS intake kit and decided to go for a test run, I did a couple pulls and noticed lack of power. probs cause i need a retune, my wide band guage was reading fine under boost but kinda lean when just idle. could I have possibly damaged anything in my engine?

Damaged the engine? Not likely. Start with a boost leak test, check your spark plugs. Intakes can mess with the maf readings and low volume measurements are more sensitive to changes which could explain the idle discrepancies. As far as what you experienced, the butt dyno is pretty unreliable and you really need logs and back to back comparisons to see what's going on. I wouldn't expect much of anything as far as gains go without a tune though.

Thats good news. Glad i was able to get a response from someone with much more experience than I. Owned my Evo for about 6 years now and just begun purchasing and installing mods. I will be installing AMS cooler, piping, and 1000cc FIC's before hitting the dyno next week!
