Somewhat recently purchased an 04 Evo 8 MR FQ 320 at 40k miles with very few mods.

The weird thing was, there was pretty much no performance modifications made but it had been changed to a 5 gear instead of a stock 6, so why someone would go through that but not do anything else to the car is a mystery.

I took my car to the famed garage Melvyn Evans who checked over all the car, did tests, looked at the ECU and dyno it and it’s running just under 275bhp which proves no engine/performance were made.

In my quest for information on mods all I ever find is stuff by a lot of North Americans or Europeans where E85 is available but not a lot of UK input. So all I ever see are mods catered around North Americans/Europeans and all this fancy high ethanol fuel that means nothing to me as we don’t get high ethanol fuel in the UK. That E85 stuff went out the UK market years ago.

I want to know what the best performance/engine modifications for me would be as someone who only has E10 fuel available, using the car as a daily driver, I want a reliable Evo that’s faster and works better than stock, what are your performance modification suggestions?

I would also like to say, money isn’t an issue for me, I want the best of the best mods, I will only buy products if they are the Bugatti of the industry, no after market ****e, I want the best made, best materials, highest quality stuff or it’s not going near my car, period.

I have made a few modifications already, I have attached an HKS exhaust, AP brakes, some Volk TE 37 rims with Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s and a Mikuni ICM, but that’s it, nothing else.

I want to learn, I want some advice and some suggestions? As said before if anyone jumps on me, I have been on Google and searched the forums and it’s all catered for North Americans or Europeans who have access to E85, not much with Brits in mind, so…

Congrats on the EvO8. I would recommend the following:

• Walbro 255
• GSC S1 or S2 cams (optional)
• FP 71HTA cool side turbo (optional)
• 1200cc or larger injectors
• Front mount intercooler & intake piping
• Open intake
• Full 3" exhaust (CAT delete) or high flow CAT if needed
• 3 port boost solenoid
• Tune to complete

There are for sure other variations, but the above will get your 4G63 to start to bark properly
