I'm on stock ecu evo 9. Flex fuel tune. I've been looking for 6 months for a computer upgrade. Better idle, drivable, launch control, no lift to shift. I'm e85 fp red. Will I notice any difference with link over stock. It's hard to justify that kind of money with little hp gains. How has link. Advantages and disadvantages????
Man, I am in a very similar spot right now with my car. Evo 9, flex fuel, FP red and debated moving to the Link. While I have no experience in my personal car, I can tell you what my tuner and friends with the Link have noticed.
The link does do a better job of controlling the engine. More stable idle, more accurate AFR but all of this leads to pretty minimal horsepower gains. The big things the Link offers are safeties around sensors on the car or that you hook up like a wideband or oil pressure gauge and closed loop wide open tuning. Both of these are pretty huge advantages.
Now on to the decision I have made for my personal car, I am staying stock ECU for now. My car is a street car that I drive for fun. I'm not racing it and I keep on top of maintenance and checking logs regularly looking for any inconsistency in how its running. However, I am keeping my eyes on part outs, sales, etc and IF I find a deal on one, I am ready to buy it. I am finding it difficult to justify the cost for the advantages offered in my exact use case but if a deal ever comes along, it will be impossible to say no.
I'm on the Link ECU for many years now and I highly recommend it. There is plug-n-play model for Evo 9 so you just connect it and throw away old one. There are pre installed maps so you just choose your model and you are ready to drive & tune. I like the PC app - GUI is very clear and easy to handle. I dont know how to compare it to OEM ECU. Thats totally different beast. You just connect your laptop by USB and you are set in 10 sek. It let you make live tune with no delay. You can dump logs to further analyse it with other people.
They even produce e-throttle system or keypad with buttons that you can configure the way you want. Thats nice option if you messed alot with interior
What of the advantages of electronic tb and pedal?
what features do you like
the best?
how is the launch control and no lift to shift? I'm looking for more consistent 1/4. My 60 ft time is all over the place.
Electronic throttle can do cool stuff with how power ramps in even if the pedal is at 100% along with cruise control and some other stuff I think.
For better 1/4 mile times, you'll be better served with a clutch slipper setup and seat time than switching the ECU. The stock ECU can do launch control and NLTS.
