how much boost are you running ?

Hey guys, i was just wondering how much boost you are running with your UTEC's. I am running 22psi, but i think that im hitting fuel cut sometimes when i floor it. I changed the spark plugs, and that seemed to help a bit, just wondering thou if i should try to turn it down a bit. Thanks,
Taylor

Im running about 1.55 bar, which is pretty much 22psi, and havent had any issues.

Normal driving I run about 1.4-1.5 bar. It is about 105+ degrees here so we have knocking issues on pump gas.

Yah, I run 21-22psi.. If you find your "adding" fuel in some areas because of an aftermarket intake (filter) you might be hitting fuel cut.. Its an abrupt cut in power.. a misfire feels more like a stumbling loss in power..

I thought the UTEC was supposed to eliminate fuel cut and things of that nature?

The new firmware is capable of that.. However for the moment it doesn't.

the more you lean it the farther away you get from fuel cut,

I dunno about most, but I can't lean it as much as others have been able to in some areas I have to add quite a bit of fuel... But your right, if the ECU sees a lower MAF reading (essentially leaning it out) it won't complain about fuel cut as a stock vehicle might.

What about retarding a bit of timing? You might have done that route too huh? Did the exhaust temperature complaint about it?

Not really.. I don't have an EGT gauge installed in the car YET, but I have one.. I have been pretty "hands off" on the timing simply because I don't have the Gauge installed (or the probe for the TXS TUner (I hope they revise the firmware to append EGT to the UTEC Data-1 output along with the wideband data if you have the Tuner)

Anyway, my timing is already about 20 degrees or so.. I do find I have to retard the timing in some areas simply because its pretty aggressive out of the box.. but I don't include those with the map I published simply because my car seems to be unique in that respect.. I also get NO Knock, though my knock sensor works.. so I just try to keep it nice and rich for the time being.

mine seems to be unique in that i am running 24 deg at the top, 22 psi, 11.5 AFR 830C egt on 93 oct and dont get knock except the midrange so i run less timing there. but on hot days i use the temp comp and add fuel and pull timing to 21 deg

I've seen my timing higher (as high as 24 deg advance), but it depends on your MAF readings the highest MAF reading I get is about 1500hz where several others get closer to 1800 with stock airboxes... I only focus at the higher RPM's since that is the only place I get any sort of knock.. Though I get around 22psi peak boost, tapering to 19psi.. Not quite sure I can't really sustain that boost, but its not unusual to see that with the buschur package running an MBC also..

OUt of curiosity, your experience seems similar to mine, was your car an early build also?
