BR580, round 2

Was on the dyno dynamics machine until way too late last night. We yielded much better results. We still have a lot of work to do to find the source of my lag. We found no boost leaks, but were able to tune it for a little better spool up. I'm confident that we'll nail it soon. Any insight on helping the lag, boost dip, and the "peakiness" would be great.
Peace,
Jeremy

Conditions were as follows........
90 degrees
56% humidity
93 Octane
Intake -3, Exhaust -1
Lots of Boost
0 Knock(that's right, 0!)
40+ Pulls, Last night alone

i'd have to look into the logs for the timing. i've got the intake side at -3 and the exhaust side at -1 on the cam timing. i'll try to print some maps/logs later.

That is some serious power on pump gas! Congrats and good luck solving the lag issues.

Did you dyno with any other cam gear settings ?

I think if you put pressure sensors at the intercooler inlet and outlet, you'll probably find a huge boost drop with that turbo.. Likely the reason why your seeing the lag..

yes, but none provided the combination of great idle w/ huge power gains.

we were just talking about that today. seems that the suby guys have had similar complaints w/ the perrin. some have found that it doesn't hold too well over 25lbs . Not a fact yet, but it's somewhere to start.

Well, it would explain the loud "Hissing" you would hear with no boost leaks..

Well, yet another discovery was made yesterday. The second loud "blow off" noise is actually the bov. The first is air coming back out of the intake after high rpm revs. As soon as you shift, it sounds like a greddy type-s, but it's coming right out of the intake. WTF?

Yep, I've seen that before.. You probably see the MAF sensor's signal break down too.. Its called flow reversion and happens occasionally, its the source of stalling on cars using a DV with aftermarket filter and MAF pipes (if you were to load the engine off the line, then immediately release the clutch and the engine is at a level where there's a little bit of blowoff, the MAF sensor's signal gets confused, it either reads real high, and goes real rich, or reads real low, which goes real lean.. and in either case it can stall the engine) Its one of the flaws in a recirculating system, however its not really a problem if your at high RPM and moving since it will almost immediately draw air back in..

you did say that you percieved the sound coming from the opposite side of the car, which would be the inlet side of the intercooler..

There's just nothing in your combo that would indicate slow spool other than an intake restriction before or at the intercooler, since a restriction after the intercooler would show a very high spike in boost/.... Or the wastegate isn't closing fully until you build more boost to assist the actuator to force it closed or overcome the "Leak"..

Wait, your using a TXS Manual boost controller? It has a combination of restrictor and bleed valve to control boost.. is the bleed valve closed fully while your making your rough boost setting adjustments to the ballvalve? If the bleed valve is not fully closed you will effect the ramp of boost since it affects the buildup of pressure to the wastegate actuator. PLUS it will make a loud hissing noise if the allen set screw is too loose or missing...
