i installed the utec and the hks eids today. for some reason the car does not rev any higher than 4.5k and takes FOREVER to get there.
i am running on map 0 so it should be what i was flashed for minus the cams correct? (i have cams, gears, hks intake, walbro pump, mbc, 3" turboback, dynoflash)
any ideas as to why i cant rev higher than 4.5k? it did before today.
the car is very laggy and doesnt want to boost, and boggs like crazy when i reach 4.5k.
however i am getting much better idle.
thanks in advance

btw how do you adjust the eids? there are two knobs that can turn i dont know what they mean since the instructions are in japanese.
also how would you install it in conjunction with the utec, i connected it to the utec and not the ecu. is this correct?

Sounds like your EIDS is "Slowing" things down so its taking forever.. if you UTEC is in map0 its not actually participating in the "Tuning" at all.. However to be certain, you might want to remove it and see if its the problem or the EIDS..
the reason I say its probably the EIDS is it basically acts as a "Buffer" for the MAF signal, so it smooths it out.. If its set too aggressively, the engine revving up and slowing down will be a little slower (or alot)
Also if its improperly installed, the MAF signal may not be getting through correctly, in turn that would cause the engine to run strangely, and generally poorly.. I can't give you any info on how to set it.. But you should set the gains to the minimum so it performs the least amount of whatever it does and go from there.

Oh, and its likely you should install the EIDS in the factory ECU wiring harness just like if it were done without the UTEC installed.. In fact, you should have installed it first and tested one thing at a time.
damn it. i knew i should have installed it to the ecu harness. but i was reading a post that said it should be "the last thing in the chain". seeing how it plays with the fuel. i installed the eids after the utec sorry. in the factory harness. the bottom one.
do you know what the two "knobs" do to the tuning on the eids? what each is and what do they do?
thanks malibujack.

well, it could affect the signal into the UTEC.. however it should only be adjusted enough to prevent stalling so it likely won't upset the UTEC much..
I don't know anything about the EIDS so I can't tell you what they do.. But I can assume that one knob controls the smoothing of the signal, and the other controls the gain (how fast it goes up or down)

why didnt i think of that, i assume the both were the same. i guess i'll try to "tune" it tomorrow.
thanks. i will be asking under the general threads.

i just installed the eids yesturday. my eids only has one knob. and it should be eids type K. the one Type H should be for other cars.
i reinstalled it last week. i can rev above 4.5k now. i have the type k also.. next to the knob there was some white caking.. under is another knob. i didnt know what it was used for and thought it got caked up by accident
