I got my UTEC partially because of Jack. I definitely knew it worked for other cars, but the stuff I see Jack doing with it got me excited for it on my Evo. So excited that the UTEC is in, but my boost gauge is still in the mail. Ha ha.

........

I got my utec because of past experience with the utec, and seeing it's capabilities without having to set up all of the basic engine controls. I however, wonder if I would buy the utec again. There are a lot of other more capable ecu's on the market(all of which require more work to get set up) some of which I wish I had. The new hydra nemesis looks very capable, and fairly user friendly. If turbo-xs would offer speed density rather than maf control, and finally release the new software, i'd probably think differently. But for what it is, I'm very impressed and happy with the utec, I just wish I could run a four inch intake!!!!!!!!

I really appreciate Jack's contributions on this forum. He knows the utec well, and obviously has turboxs' approvement. From my understanding of things, they are pretty picky about their beta testers,
thanks Jack

I got the UTEC because it's more of a novice tuner tool than an AEM EMS. I already have a good Dynoflash custom ECU and want to tweak my timing and fuel.

I got the Utec b/c a speed shop recommended it. Its easy to install and remove. Keeps the OBDII and can still run stock if you need it to. I didnt know how to tune anything when I bought it and with all of Jack's great information, I still dont know how to tune. hehehe

I'm considering one, mainly because I'd like to make in the 400whp range (eventually) and be self tuned. I don't think an AEM EMS would be possible for me. And I know that I could come here and get some good advice not just from Jack but all of those with a Utec.

P.S. Malibus passion is what got me interested enough to look into the Utec's capabilities, and I liked what it can offer.

You are probably the only reason I'm getting a UTEC. You are my evo savior... I mean, yeah, you had a heavy influence on my decision, well, whenever my car comes in.

Sorry to be off topic. I am considering UTEC, but has anyone of you using UTEC has experieced the famous P0300 code? I have a stand alone now, but i might go to UTEC if there is a remedy for teh P0300 code even if I use UTEC.

Do I have to do any programming right of the bat with the UTEC or can I just slam it in my car, get an instant improvement, and be on my happy way?

Well, you can put it in your car and have no drivability problems, It does come with a base map that will increase performance slightly, but you really need to do a good tune to make best use of it..
